I am a Lecturer at Johns Hopkins University where I teach courses on Computational Modeling and Quantitative Methods.  I was formerly an assistant professor at the University of California, Davis. I received my PhD from the Pennsylvania State University.

I use a variety of diverse tools including computer modeling, game theory, network analysis, and applied statistics to contribute to research on international political processes and educate students about how to use those tools to understand politics and domestic and foreign policy.

My research interests involve the scientific study of international and civil conflict, specifically conflict expansion and diffusion. I investigate conflict processes by developing formal models (e.g., game-theoretic, computational) and then subjecting the implications of these models (i.e., hypotheses) to empirical evaluation using statistical analysis.
